Tennessee Arts Commission Grant Lifts Spirits at SRVS

Since 2013, the Learning Center at SRVS headquarters had been dancing up a storm. This is due to a grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission for a program called Joy of Movement. The Tennessee Arts Commission (TAC) offers the Arts Build Communities (ABC) grant program in partnership with ArtsMemphis for organizations seeking support in the following West Tennessee counties: Fayette, Lauderdale, Shelby, Tipton. The Arts Build Communities (ABC) grant program is designed to provide support for arts projects that broaden access to arts experiences, address community quality of life issues through the arts, or enhance the sustainability of asset-based cultural enterprises.

Stephanie Hill, lead instructor from Ballet on Wheels, facilitates the dance program. Their involvement in the program aligns with their mission: To develop art education and enhance the appreciation of classical ballet and other dance genres for youth of diverse backgrounds through structured classes, use of creative expression, discipline and performance exposure opportunities. The dance grant allows Learning Center attendees to engage in the arts and experience how life-changing the arts can be
